RESONAC
is an efficient panel damping material, extremely effective
in the suppression of vibration and vibration generated
noise.
Resonac meets the requirements of Class "0" Fire Propagation
over non-combustible substrates to the 1991 Building Regulations.
In addition, RESONAC has low smoke and toxic fume emission
and
suitable for use on steel, stainless steel, aluminium and
enamel panels used for example in tunnels, underground stations,
lift carriages, on metal roofing sheet and in passenger carrying
vehicles eg, buses, trains and boats. |

The
water-based viscoelastic compound is lightweight and easily
applied using spray equipment or trowel on metal panels with
complex shapes and profiles. |

PREVIEW |
It
has always been a challenge to reduce rain impact noise for
metal roofs. Over the decade, many institutional building such
as schools, colleges and performing spaces which utilizes the
metal roofing has faced the intrusion of overwhelming rain impact
noise during heavy downpour. |
o |
In
recent years, various noise control solutions have been proposed
to reduce the transmission of rain impact noise through metal
deck roof. Many involve adding layers of hardboard material
to the basic metal deck roofing system to enhance the transmission
loss properties. No doubt such solution provides significant
relief to the rain noise problem, but at what costs? Also, what
about the radiated noise to adjacent properties caused rain
impact on the roofing sheet? |
o |
CONVENTIONAL
RAIN NOISE TREATMENT |
Using
conventional method to treat rain impact noise is straightforward;
by adding thicker and higher density board materials. The result
is apparent but the costs can be very high. |
o |
|
|
HIGHER
CONSTRUCTION COSTS |
|
|
Conventional
rain noise treatment typically requires additional supporting
structures for the extra weight imposed by the additional
board materials, which in turn increases construction
costs for having bigger structural columns and beams.
In addition, more time, which is always critical in construction
projects, is required to build such extensive system.
Any delay in constructing the metal roofing as a result
of such extensive design will hold back the rest of the
building trades as weather tight condition is necessary
before interior fitouts and installation can proceed. |

QUALITY OF WORKS |
|
|
The
integrity of sound insulation performance of sandwiched
panel system is highly dependent on the joints of the
insulation boards. Such conformance cannot be easily monitored
due to the inaccessibility of most roofs. |

|
DANGER OVERHEAD |
|
|
Specified
spacings between purlins are sometimes not conformed to
totally and such variation may mean that some of the high
density insulation boards are sitting very closely to
the purlin edges; any movement in the supporting member
due to thermal expansion and contraction may cause the
boards to fall out of place and the consequence can be
disastrous. |

RADIATED
NOISE NOT ARRESTED |
|
|
Conventional
sandwiched panel system only takes care of rain noise
reduction below the metal roof. However, rain impact noise
on metal roof can affect premises above the roof as well
as the adjacent building. |

REVOLUTIONARY
RAIN IMPACT NOISE TREATMENT |
What
other options do we have in rain noise reduction for metal roof?
RESONAC may hold the key to alleviating the irritating rain
impact noise. |
o |
RESONAC-M
is a anti-drumming compound which makes rainy day welcomed,
even if you are under bare metal roof system. You have to hear
the difference in sound reduction provided by RESONAC-M to appreciate
the unique formulation of this viscoelastic vibration damping
compound. Instead of the conventional methods of insulating
metal roof with sandwiched board construction, the rain impact
noise against metal roof can be treated at source by applying
a thin layer of RESONAC-M. RESONAC-M outperforms other compound,
reducing rain impact noise level up to 15 dB. |
o |
The
unique advantages of RESONAC-M are; |
 |
EASE-OF-USE |
| |
It
can be spayed or rolled onto the underside of the cladding,
on site or at the roof manufacturers' premises and has
excellent adhesive qualities to both steel and aluminium
surface. It is fast drying and cures to a hard finish.
As it is water-based, it is easy to apply and clean. |
| o |
o |
 |
LIGHTWEIGHT |
| o |
There
is little additional weight to the roof as it forms only
a thin coating of 0.7mm to 1.0mm thickness. |
| o |
o |
 |
REDUCED RADIATED NOISE |
| |
As
RESONAC-M adheres to the metal roofing sheet to form a
monolithic coating with the steel surface, it provides
effective noise reduction at source through damping the
resonance of steel sheet under impact, thereby minimize
the rain impact radiated sound to the surroundings. |

EXTRAS |

RESONAC-M
is environmentally friendly, UV and water resistant, and
is non- combustible. |
