AUDIO VISUAL SECTION - DIY SOUND-STAGING | Page 1 | 2 | 3
The ability of a Hi-Fi system
to present music as an apparent three-dimensional space is commonly
referred to as Sound-staging or Imaging. Music with proper sound-staging
will have a feeling of width and depth where the listener can discern the
placement of different musical instruments on the stage. For example, we
may be able to tell that a singer is standing towards the front left of
the stage while the drums are located towards the centre rear of the
stage. The main factors affecting the localization and acoustic sound-staging are reflections from the room's boundary surfaces. These reflections cause colouration to the frequency response which fools our auditory system and degrade our ability to experience the sound image as they were intended to be perceived.
